I recently heard about an interesting event. Video Games Live is apparently a show that has a live orchestra playing the top game soundtracks…. everything from Myst to Halo.
Here’s hoping I get to go when it ends up around here.

I certainly think so.
If you read the post bellow this one, you’ll see that Cyan was disbanded the other day. Well, it seems that they went to a meeting with a publisher (according to Myst Obsession, and that the meeting went well. Now we are just waiting to find out what the publisher decides.
So keep those fingers crossed :) (or anything else for that matter)

At this point, I’m starting to loose count of how many good things have ended in the past while. Lets see, there’s EnB ending, Andromeda ending, two grandparents dying, URU Live ending, the last Myst game coming out…. I know I missed some but anyway, I have a new one:
CYAN GOING OUT OF BUSINESS!
Yep, you read it right. Cyan, the makers of the Myst games, books, community, etc… are essentially gone. Of course, being the optimist and dreamer I am, I will never accept that they are totally gone. As can be read here, Rand Miller was forced to let everyone go so that the company and dream could stay alive. Even with only two people left, that’s still two people to keep the company alive and find funding for Latus (the codename for the next Cyan game).
But regardless, it is still very sad to see this happen. I don’t blame UBI Soft or any other publisher for not giving funding to Cyan, after all they have to do what they think will make the most money since they are a business. UBI has made some great games and was kind enough to allow Cyan to make Myst V. The only publisher that I despise is EA… but that’s another story.
Anyway, this horrible event finally convinced me to go back into Until URU, reunite with old friends, and rediscover what brought such joy back when URU Live was still running it’s Prologue phase. The community is still going strong, and the fan-made servers for the URU expansions seem to be progressing smoothly. Hopefully someday we will begin to see new ages being created, and my hope is that a growing Until URU community will help bolster Cyan back to its glory.
Well anyway, back to doing AP Physics homework, but if anyone from Cyan reads this, I want you to know that I appreciate everything you have created. You have inspired me to want to become a game designer and to want more than the standard game/art piece. Good luck in future endeavors, and I will continue to wait for the day that you all are reunited at the Cyan headquarters in Spokane.
