I dream of taking flight in an ambiguous world filled with vague clouds and shadowed air…Then I wake up and forget the whole thing

I Need One Of These For Myself

November 23rd, 2006 Kiirel

John Hodgman’s theme song. I just spent the past little while transcribing it… link to the clip to follow (hopefully).

Coulton
Now is the time when the world really needs him; wisdom is out of our reach.
Out of the wasteland, there comes a redeemer whose only desire is to teach.
Don’t waste your time at some fancy college; forget that, there’s too much to read.
He’s got a book of complete world knowledge; it’s all you’ll ever need!

Hodgman
Good evening. My name is John Hodgman. As noted, I am the author of the book entitled ‘The Areas of My Expertise.’ That is the short hand title, by the way. If you wish to know the full title, it is as follows:

An almanac of Complete World Knowledge Compiled With Instructive Annotation and Arranged in Useful Order By Me, John Hodgman, A Professional Writer, in The Areas of My Expertise, Which Areas Include: Matters Historical, Matters Literary, Matters Cryptozoological, Hobo Maters, Food, Drink & Cheese (which is a kind of food), Lobsters, Squirrels, Eels, Haircuts, Utopia, What Will Happen in the Future, and Most Other Subjects.

Coulton
Most other subjects include having asthma, sleeping in fancy hotels,
terrible haircuts, Dungeons and Dragons, wizards and magical spells.

All of your travels are finally over, you’re safe now, there’s nothing to fear.
So tip back a glass of your favorite beverage, you’re lucky to be here!

Cause tonight, you’re holding a key, that fits in a lock, that opens a door, that shows you a room, that’s holding a heart, that’s pumping the blood, that’s feeding your brain with information! Sweet information! Sweet information!

We Have Come To Terms

Which Big O character are you?

Yay

November 8th, 2006 Kiirel

Today I got some great news! Unfortunately, I can’t tell you what it is… or even why I can’t tell you.

Wow… that sucks. That makes it a little less fun, but still, fun!

edit, a year after the fact: Think “D’ni” and “anti-D’mala”

They’re Back!

November 5th, 2006 Kiirel

Well, it seems like FOCS (Five O’ Clock Shadow) is now officially back! They had that one gig a month or two ago, but now they have a full list of them on their ‘gigs’ page (including one in Burlington VT, hint hint… u know who you are).

Nice of them to pretend they never broke up, eh?

I’m excited!

Chasing Time

November 5th, 2006 Kiirel

Its Done! (For some reason, every time I say that to myself I think of that second monologue from Marjorie’s dance thing… oh well)

clicky

There are still parts that I’m unhappy with (not limited to the fact that I couldn’t get my hardware particles to render out… kept either not rendering or using the wrong renderer)… but all in all I like it. The timing still feels fast, but he gave us a strict time limit of 30 seconds… so it’s exactly 30 seconds ;p

Enjoy :)

Beggars

November 3rd, 2006 Kiirel

Hey all. Sorry I haven’t been updating, but its crunch time at school. Our car project is due Monday, and I still have a bit to do (not to mention that my frames take so long to render that I’ll need at least a day just for that!)

I have a few pictures from a Monday or so that I thought I would share. I don’t have time to make the poast all pretty with thumbnails like I usually do, so I’ll just poast links:

A render with some basic lighting. It looks good on my monitor at home/school, but last night on a CRT at Beaver it looked terrible…. just chance it I guess.

This is rendered using ‘luminance depth’ of something. Essentially, it shows how close or far the object is from the camera using a greyscale… kinda.

This is an occlusion rendering of the car itself. Don’t ask what that means… I sort of get it but most people seem confused by my answer. This is great for showing off the model though.

This last one is an occlusion render of the car and a shot of a little of my cityscape….. you can’t see much of the city here, but its still interesting. Look at the pretty Tardis ;p

Oh, and one other thing. Last night I saw the Middle School show (The Beggar’s Strike). It was really well done for a middle school show I think (especially for thier first runthrough…. O_o). But here’s the crazy part… I don’t even go to the school anymore and I was still one of the last people out of the building! I just find that funny (and sad…)

I’m sleepy….
