So, I don’t know about anyone else, but I think the end of Stargate SG-1’s 10 years fell a bit short.

“Lets see, how should we end this show? I know, lets give earth all the technology it could ever want…. but we have to make sure to kill off the Asguard because anytime something big happens we need to kill off someone/thing important.” Like in Threads, when they killed of Cater’s father for no reason. Or in countless other instances. I don’t so much mind what they did in Sunday to Carson, because they did it tastefully. But the SG-1 side of things just keeps having people killed off for no reason! Oh yeah, I forgot to add Frasier to the list didn’t I?
Honestly, the more I think about it, the more I am reminded of the end of Andromeda. The last season of both shows was just a lot of filler, followed by an ending that seems to solve every problem in concept, but leaves something to be desired. I do think it was time to end the show (well, it was time to end it a while ago, but that’s another story). I’m excited about the movies because, frankly, its about fracking time. I am kind of annoyed that O’neill wasn’t in the final episode… particularly because of what the Asguard thought of him. After all, he was the one to make them start thinking of Human’s as the fifth race, and they always did things through him (for better or worse) in the past. I just don’t feel like the episode had enough to it, thats all.
Oh yeah, and about last week’s episode:

What was the deal with the Tok’ra? We don’t see them for a season or two (not since Carter’s dad died I think), and suddenly they are on call to *help*! And a procedure that they used to do flawlessly with their own technology is suddenly really difficult, and they use Earth technology and screw it up. Oh yeah, and then when the important things start happening again, all the Tok’ra disappear from the room/ship (not sci-fi wise i mean… just that they got thrown out of the room too and then we didn’t hear from them again. Or were all of them killed by Adria? WTF?!)
Oh well. At least Atlantis was pretty cool (DAVID OGDEN STIER for teh win!). I’m excited to see how this gets resolved, though I have reservations about some casting choices they have coming up. Oh well, at least there’s two SG-1 movies, Atlantis season 4, and possibly a new Stargate spin-off coming up.
And hey, Eureeka and Doctor Who start in a few weeks!
