I dream of taking flight in an ambiguous world filled with vague clouds and shadowed air…Then I wake up and forget the whole thing

Unending

June 23rd, 2007 Kiirel

So, I don’t know about anyone else, but I think the end of Stargate SG-1’s 10 years fell a bit short.

Oh yeah, and about last week’s episode:

Oh well. At least Atlantis was pretty cool (DAVID OGDEN STIER for teh win!). I’m excited to see how this gets resolved, though I have reservations about some casting choices they have coming up. Oh well, at least there’s two SG-1 movies, Atlantis season 4, and possibly a new Stargate spin-off coming up.

And hey, Eureeka and Doctor Who start in a few weeks!

Mr. Who?

June 16th, 2007 Kiirel

So apparently Mr. Wizard and Dr. Who have something in common…. very few people know who they are. I’m starting to get worried here; I asked several of my friends (including someone’s father) if they had heard of Mr. Wizard, and they all said “no”! How can so many people (several of which were in AP science courses) not know who Mr. Wizard was?!

It just confuses me.

Oh, and by the way…. I want a pad (yay Star Trek looking devices!).

Another One Bites the… Plinko Chip?

June 15th, 2007 Kiirel

So yesterday I said that Mr. Wizard died this week. Well, today another big name in television (obviously not as big as Mr Wizard, but still) leaves the scene. No, he’s not dead, but after 35 years on The Price Is Right, Bob Barker is retiring. Now, I have to say that this final episode was not exactly the best. I mean, the person playing Plinko hit the $0 twice…. and the other three times she only hit the $500 (for $1500 for the math challenged).

But don’t despair, because there are months of Barker reruns ahead (apparently this happens every summer). And then, Bob said that he will come back and continue to host until they manage to find a replacement…. so in reality its still buisness as usual. Oh yeah, and you know that wired microphone he always uses (he won’t use wireless apparently)? Well, its being auctioned off on ebay with the proceeds going to an animal rights charity. Last time I looked it was somewhere around $16,000. Yeah, you read that right…. ITS A MICROPHONE! *sigh*

Oh well. Thus ends an era. No more cool science experiments at 6 in the morning when you can’t sleep, and no more cool grey haired hosts who like being called “Bob-a-licious” (O_o). For some reason I suddenly feel like calling/talking to Ramona; afterall, she’s the one who got me hooked on The Price Is Right when I was little.

The Wizard Is Out Today

June 14th, 2007 Kiirel

So today marks the death of a great figure. Mr. Wizard passed today! *tear* Now I know at least one person reading this has no idea who Mr. Wizard was (for shame!)….. I’m just going to guess that everyone else didn’t lead such a sheltered childhood ;p.

Interestingly, just a few months ago I was in class and we ended up having an engaging conversation about the great wizard. I think, in honor of today, some TV station somewhere should play a marathon of the show…. maybe a day’s worth or so? :)

Ok, I’ll admit it… I’m just too cheap to be able to justify buy Mr. Wizard DVDs since I already understand everything he shows. Whatever, they should still play a marathon ;d

Oh, and I’ve started work on my Dalek again. Unfortunately, I don’t have the time or resources to actually build a Dalek, but that doesn’t stop me from working on the 3D model I started during the “Origins of the Universe” project. No timeline on completion though…. I find deadlines too stifling ;p.

Edit: Ok, he died on the 11th… but I only found out about it today, so meh

From Fourth To Fifth

June 8th, 2007 Kiirel

You know, I never thought I would actually manage to finish watching all of the Fourth Doctor episodes, but know that I have, I’m kinda sad. There’s not going to be another Doctor quite like Tom Baker’s. Then again, I suppose there was plenty more to Baker’s Doctor than there was of Eccleston’s Doctor, and those are my two favorites. I’m going to miss watching as he confuses everyone in sight while still finding time to eat Jelly Babies.

I guess now I have to decide where to start watching from now. I could either move on to Peter Davison’s Fifth Doctor, or I could go back and start watching from the begining with William Hartnel as the First Doctor. Hmm, decisions decisions….

Well I guess I ought to go to sleep, eh? But don’t forget, dear reader…. if ever you can’t decide what sort of appendage to wear around your neck, you can always fall back on a Baker-esque super long scarf with lots of colors.

And you can eat some Jelly Babies while you attempt not to trip over it.

New Picture Technology

And to think, they also presented this stuff at Siggraph last year…. and I was probably too busy watching a door somewhere with my silly student volunteer vest on to realize it! Not this year my friends!
