My everything hurts. I haven’t done fencing since the end of B-term last year, so it was a bit of a shock to my system to got to practice on Friday afternoon. My arms were already a bit sore due to lots of lifting-type activity with LnL, and now everything else is sore. But, of course, I’ll stick with it. I’m not even taking it for credit this term, because Wednesday practices overlap with LnL meetings, though next term there is a different set of days for practice so I’ll be able to get credit. Ouch.
What else is new? Well, I was roped into being assistant-ME on a play here. The rest of the lighting team are friends of mine (along with more of the production crew), so it should be fun. Several people in LnL were trying to warn me away from doing theater if I wanted to keep passing courses, but its not like I’m doing a musical and I’m only an assistant so I don’t think it will be a problem. And with the way my two classes seem to be headed, I think I’ll have some free time. Though, my IQP hasn’t actually met yet so that has a good chance of sucking time away. I guess I’ll just have to wait and see. I may manage to get half an English credit out of it though, which would mean I can do one more show for another half and I will have the two English credits done for the IMGD requirements. I just need the person in charge of the forms for the show to get back to me before the registration deadline…
My apartment is still a heavily unpacked mess, but I’m working on it. Last night I wanted to play with Shadow, but it turns out the A/V cable and the sensor bar did not end up in the same box as him. I am heading back to Newton for a night today to get some more stuff so I’ll have to have a look around. It did force me to get my server up and running, because I was really bored without either games to play or things to watch. I need to get my workstation setup so I can stop working from an underpowered laptop.
Oh yeah, and as it turns out, the guys who installed the washer/dryer screwed up and plugged the water lines into the wrong outlets. I couldn’t get them loose on the wall and had to switch them on the washer itself. So now the red one is cold and the blue one is hot. *argh*

I hate mosquitoes. That’ll teach me to sit on the LnL couch on the Quad all day…

Official press releases are out. Atlantis is canceled with 100 episodes as of January ‘09. They will release an Atlantis movie later in ‘09. When the next season of Atlantis would have aired, the first season of Universe will air instead. Universe sounds interesting, but I’m wary of this idea of making it more enjoyable to a younger audience. As hard as it is to believe, my generation isn’t that ‘newer audience’ that people are always talking about bringing in anymore (gee, pity), so I’m not sure. They said more space-travel based, but also more character driven and less hardcore sci-fi (hardcore sci-fi? who are they kidding?). So we’ll see.
And of course, there’s Stargate Worlds on the horizon. I still hope I get into the beta test of that (before I get a job that will forever knock me off the this of potential testers *sigh*)

Had my internet installed today.. 16Mb downstream and 1.5-2Mb upstream… not too bad actually. And so far, I’m not getting cable. We’ll see if that lasts though.
So I bought the leveling feet from Home Depot to fix the big bookcase on the very un-level floor. But of course, the hole I need to drill is a strange size that doesn’t come with a normal set of drill bits (11/32 while my biggest is 1/4), so its back to Home Depot tomorrow. Oh, and I think there might be something wrong with my toilet; water kept going into the bowel instead of filling the reservoir (there’s a second ‘r’ in reservoir?!). I looked and it wasn’t the normal culprits (float offset, chain fallen off, etc) and it fixed when I played with the really old-looking thing that seals the bowl from the reservoir, so I’m guessing that’s the problem. I’ll have to watch it.
Oh, and funny story. Remember that horrible day where I went to the Tar Pits and got lost without a taxi and such? Well, when I went to the Subways, I ended up getting a coupon for a free drink on my drink from the Scrabble thing they have going. That was last Friday. This Friday (today) I went to get dinner at Subways and used my coupon. Then it occurred to be that it had been a week to the day since I got the coupon while feeling similarly starving at a Subways. THEN it occurred to me that, with the time offset, it was almost exactly the same time that I got food last week. *shrug* I find these things amusing.
Oh yeah… I learned to hang Truss today (or at least the chain hoists) before I drove back to Newton. NSO should be fun this year, since I’ll be on the other side of it.

So now Atlantis has been canceled. Of course, they already plan to do a full length movie (ala ‘Ark of Truth’ and ‘Continuum’ for SG1) to wrap up the cliff-hanger. Then they are supposedly planning on-going Atlantis movies. No real info though, as there isn’t actually a press release yet, just this. I actually think this is be better, because of the way I like to watch Atlantis. A bigger budget and a longer format will be better, and its not like Doctor who (or old SG1) where I get upset about having to wait for a new episode; the stupid mid-season breaks that Sci-Fi loves got that out of my system real fast. So I am actually looking forward to some Atlantis movies, and hopefully some more SG1 movies.
The other cool thing is that they said the third series (’Stargate: Universe’, dealing with the 9th chevron and stuff from before when the Ancients were still the Alterans) was perpetually on the back-burner because it was too much to have two shows on the air AND do SG1 stuff on the side (so 3 shows). So now that the first two are just movies, they might get a green light on Universe.
*shrug* Who knows. I’m sure it’ll be fun to watch whatever comes out of this. And in the meantime, I just saw this week’s Eureka, and it has certainly grown to be a real show. Its not just silly jokes anymore, but they got real close to a tear-jerker this time.
Oh well, time for sleep so I can deal with Worcester stuff tomorrow (today) and the next day.

I just got the July copy of some hunting magazine. Apparently I can “never miss again” or something; so says the cover.
How the hell did they get my name/address? O_o
