So the FLC is putting up Gypsy for the next 3 weekends. I’ve heard of this play, but I honestly haven’t the slightest idea what its about. They claim its the most awesome-sauce musical ever though, so I figure I ought to go see it. Scheduling will be a pain though. Given that New Voices is next week, which means tech this weekend, I can probably only go the last weekend. Maybe I’ll go to that Saturday matinĂ©e.
Now the only other question is who to go with. Maybe I’ll invite sparkles; she was sad when no one invited her to see Annie/she missed it. No idea if she’d want to see Gypsy though.
PS. In the absence of both a drafting table/board and masking/painters tape, drafting becomes very difficult!

While working in the LT today, we had to deal with some measuring issues. We came to the conclusion that, in theater, you are shooting for “government work with a tolerance of plus or minus ‘good enough’”
Ah, only at WPI ;D

I was just forced to read a play called “Sister Mary Ignatious Explains It All”. It has some semi-amusing bits at the end, and stuff I can see having some amusement factor, for just being so ridiculous, at the beginning, but its mostly just a long winded tale of Catholicism and why its important and why people like me will burn in hell and all sorts of other fracking shit like that. I think I missed the point, because thats probably not what people are supposed to take away from it, and I can see what the point was. But I don’t care… even if it is supposed to be making fun of that stuff to some extent, I don’t want to read a play that is even remotely preaching that to me; especially not for 20 pages!
And now I apparently have to make a light plot for this dribble! WTF?! I think I’d rather have to read that play Kingsley was telling me about, with an iceberg and aliens and other stuff. Maybe it is a bad play, but it couldn’t be worse than this.
Oh, and now I get to go read about the basics of lighting design from “Technical Theater for non-Technical People”… I’m not sure I really like this class.

PS. I keep almost saying Sister Mary Clarence… but that would be far more amusing since it would be funnier and I could read it in Whoopie Goldberg’s voice, and maybe picture Edward James Olmos in the background trying to start a “So Say We All” ;p

So get this: they brought in people from BSG to speak at this thing at the UN. It was a talk comparing the issues that appear in Galactica to real-world issues that the UN tries to address. They had a panel moderated by Whoopie Goldberg, with both BSG people and a guy from the UN. They also had about 100 high-schoolers with questions that they could pose.
I’ve only watched a little of it (its 2 hours they say), but its so surreal! Especially when Olmos (Adama) gets everyone to do the “So Say We All” chant… on the floor of the bloody United Nations!
Crazy! Here’s a link.

Did you know that they’re making a Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs movie?! I certainly didn’t. You can see the trailer (including Mr. T) here.
I’m looking forward to this one.

Have you heard? SciFi Channel is re-branding as Syfy. Does that sound as stupid to you as it does to me? I’m so glad I don’t actually watch that channel anymore. Just another good reason not to have cable.
