I’m working with two other people on a design for our final project in the theater class. What we want to do is build a proof of concept of one small platform (2′x2′, 2′x4′, or something like that). The idea is that that platform has plexiglass instead of plywood as a base, so you can put lights under it and do fun uplighting things.
The only problem is, we’re talking about $50-100 of plexiglass near as I can figure (probably closer to 50, but still). So we might not be able to do it, at least not in real life.
I need to find some way of getting the plexiglass for cheap, and I also need to figure out what thickness I can get away with (1/4 inch is much cheaper than 1/2, but I’m worried about its strength to hold up a human). It looks like I might actually have to drive down to the Home Depot down the street tomorrow and take a walk around. Maybe they’ll have a good price, or maybe I’ll walk past something and be inspired.
Anyone know any good places to get cheep plexiglass? Or, anyone know someone who might have some they could donate? ;D
