Viva La Blackpool
Over the past week I rewatched Blackpool. It is just such a ridiculous and awesome show! I love this whole British thing of dong lots of small but awesome miniseries (like Jekyll and Blackpool). This time around I even ended up buying a couple of the better songs. I still haven’t seen Viva Blackpool (the sequel), but without the murder mystery and David Tennant, I’m skeptical.
I have to say though, I honestly didn’t notice that the guy who played Rippley was the same guy from this past Doctor Who xmas special. I only caught on when I happened to see the name David Morrissey in the credits, and there was the requisite double take and ‘aha’ moment. I’ll have to go back and rewatch that episode now and compare the interplay between the two actors in very different roles. Fun though.
And I discovered that I now associate that ‘north’ accent soley with Eccleston’s Doctor, so every time I would partially stop paying attention to the show, I would hear one of the many people with that accent and my brain would snap back to attention thinking it was something else ;p
Ok, back to Newton I go.

edit: now I remember the other thing I was going to say. While watching, I noticed during one of Tennant’s scenes that there was a building behind him and the person he was talking to, who’s sign said ‘ctor who’ and ’seum’, or something to that effect. So I immediately paused and google searched ‘doctor who museum blackpool’, and apparently there is one there. The show was before he was set to be the Doctor, so its just amusing that one of his scenes was set in front of the Doctor Who Museum there :D
