Apparently, word of my skillset is getting around. Britt (one of the new professors; the one I had that little tiff with in A-term) runs a figure-drawing workshop every week. I don’t go, but I know several people that do. I’m told that at the one this week, someone idly mention to a friend that they were having trouble with something Maya related. Someone else then said something to the effect of “have you asked Elliot?”.
I guess I must do a good job when I TA (I’m not this term), because random people are passing around that I’m the go-to guy for help in Maya. As nice as it is to be appreciated, I really hope this doesn’t get out of hand, heh.

For those interested in seeing Heek, as it stands right now, take a look at this thread I posted at UO.

I love the stats tracker I keep on this blog. It provides all sorts of interesting information.

“There’s a difference between making art and making content”
After several days of coming up with content for this music project, based on old art, I have come up with this quote. I think its quite profound, in that not-so-profound kind of way ;D

It just occurred to me: In the base station for Heek (where the 5 players plug in their controllers), I have designed a PCB that holds a 2 digit seven-segment screen (like on a clock). If the feature is turned on, then as soon as one player pushes a button to lock in their choice, the screen counts down from 10 seconds. Anyone who doesn’t make a choice before the end of the countdown is not included in the scoring for that round. This is just like it worked in Uru Live (except it was a hologram).
It just occurred to me that it should be counting down in D’ni numerals. I can guarantee that at least one person at Mysterium will notice this and say it. Its far too late to change now (heck, the PCBs are already being fabbed), but I could have instead used a dot-matrix display (like I did on the IQP) and had a font of D’ni numbers to display. I guess that will have to wait for version 2.
Also, I am officially opening the Electronics category. It will house ramblings and interesting things about electronics.

I wonder if Professor Rosenstock had any idea what he was setting in motion when he encouraged me to try learning some electronics know-how for the project. Now look at me! My apartment is covered with parts and breadboards; I just bought a benchtop digital power supply, a mini oscilloscope and a logic analyser; I spend each night researching electronics things and working on the several projects I have going. Hell, I even got a shipment of metal samples today (small squares, not big sheets of metal) to test materials for building enclosures!
This is crazy! Its also shit-tons of fun! ;D I can’t wait to get to Mysterium with my little surprise ;P
That is, assuming I can stop changing the design and actually build it.

Hmm, I wonder when the last time I posted was. Lets just take a loo….. oh. Sorry bout that, my bad. Things got really busy at the end of the term there, and then I just sort of crashed. I’ll try to sum up everything.
